The Federal Commissioner in the Federal Character Commission (FCC) representing Enugu State, Ginika Florence Tor, has said the Igbo nation of the Southeast must play mainstream politics in 2023.

She urged her compatriots in the Southeast to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, becomes the country’s next president.

The FCC commissioner said the former Lagos State governor gave many people from the Southeast a sense of belonging when he was at the helm of affairs.

She stressed that the Igbo cannot afford to make the same mistake it has been making since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

Tor, who is the Convener of IgboKwenu4Asiwaju Omaluegwuoku Progressive Initiative, said she packaged the group because of her passion to bring Southeasterners on board the Asiwaju presidential project.

The FCC commissioner also said IgboKwenu4Asiwaju is meant to galvanise the interest of the Igbo to massively vote for Tinubu/Shettima ticket and ensure that they do not play the second fiddle in national politics again.

She urged the Igbo to consider the laudable achievements which have positioned the former Lagos State governor as a true patriot and nationalist whose capacity and competence is not in doubt.

Tor queried: “How can you vote uncertainty against certainty?”

The FCC commissioner recalled that Asiwaju Tinubu laid the foundation for a modern Lagos State between 1999 and 2007 and leap-frogged its internally generated revenue (IGR) from N600 million per month to over N10 billion monthly.

According to her, it is upon that foundation that successive administrations in Lagos State have leveraged to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the residents.

Tor asked the Southeast to critically consider the personal qualities and experience profiles of Asiwaju Tinunu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, saying: “These two distinguished Nigerians complement each other and both have demonstrated selfless leadership and are detribalised.”

Also, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Coordinator of the Igbo Kwenu4Asiwaju, Jude Emeka Idimogu, described Asiwaju Tinubu as a man with a very large heart.
