Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Benjamin Goong, has said he was not aware of any plan to increase school fees in public universities.

He said this in an interview with The Nation.

The director said the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, was working in line with the two weeks ultimatum issued by President Muhammadu Buhari to resolve the ongoing strike by the university unions.

Goong said: “I am not aware of any plans to increase school fees.

“Mr. President has given the minister an ultimatum to get the ASUU strike sorted out. The minister is working on that. He is having a series of meetings with the relevant stakeholders.

“I will not want to preempt what the honourable minister will be submitting to Mr. President at the end of the ultimatum.

“Definitely, I can tell you the minister is going to make a submission to Mr. President on how to sort out the quagmire.”
