A socio-political group, Agenda for Greater Nigeria (AGN), has called on Nigerians to shun religious consideration ahead of 2023 elections.

It said the Tinubu/Shettima ticket portends a promising future for Nigeria.

The group said the choice of former Borno Sate Governor Senator Kashim Shettima was an indication Tinubu’s presidency will take tough decisions to reposition Nigeria on the path of prosperity.

A statement by the President, Izacc Koleosho and General Secretary Gidado Kawu, urged Nigerians to shun religious sentiments while making decisions on 2023, butb rather they should consider competence, innovation, compassion, integrity, fairness and excellence.

“As Asiwaju laid a solid and progressive foundation in Lagos State, which his successors are following till date, it is on record that Senator Shettima has also done similar things in Borno State which his successor, Prof. Zulum Babagana, is following till date. Even as Boko Haram wreaked havoc in the state, Shettima was able to start many infrastructural projects that the current governor is building on, just Like Lagos.

“This is where politics must end and leadership must begin. True leadership is not grounded in religion, populism or sentiment. To forge ahead as a nation toward development and prosperity, we must break free of old binds.”
