Anene, The Nation, gathered shot himself dead around 8:30pm on Wednesday, July 27 at his 9, Emmanuel Court, Olusegun Aina Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi apartment.

It was learnt that the deceased locked himself inside before firing the gun and it was the sound that attracted neighbours alert the estate’s Chief Security Officer (CSO).

The Nation gathered the police was notified when neighbours discovered the door was locked from inside and no one was opening.

It was learnt that detectives raced to the scene, forced the door open and found Anene’s lifeless body in the wardrobe with gunshot injury.

Confirming the incident, police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin told The Nation that a pump action gun, a carton of unexpended and one used cartridge were recovered from the scene.

He said he body had been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy, adding that the police were investigating all possible angles.

“It is too early to jump into conclusions. At the moment I do not know the motives nor do we have a clear picture of what transpired. I can tell you that investigations have commenced and we are not ruling out any possibility,” Hundeyin said.
