Kelechi Nwakali’s coach at new Spanish club, Jose Gomes, has praised the quality of the Super Eagles midfielder.
Nwakali, 24, joined Spanish Segunda Division side SD Ponferradina as a free agent after his contract was cancelled by Huesca in the closing weeks of last season.
He joined the team this week.
Gomes has recounted the past exploits of Nwakali, while also talking about his strong points.
“At the U17 World Cup, he was the best player and it was not an accident,” recalled the Portuguese coach, who until April was in charge of Saudi Arabian club Al Taawon. “He is very intelligent, he knows how to take up space, he has good passes, dribbles well and delivers good pull-outs.”
Last season, the club placed eighth in the Spanish second-tier.
They open their new campaign on August 14 at FC Cartagena.
