State gets traffic management agency
Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello has approved the appointment of Alhaji Saidu Ibrahim as Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB). Ibrahim replaces Dr Isah Adamu who was sacked last week.
A statement by the Secretary to the Government, Ahmed Matane said Ibrahim’s appointment was based on merit, proven credentials, personal integrity, and outstanding records of decades of experience. It urged him to work towards reinvigorating the Board within the context of the government’s drive towards enhanced basic education.
Meanwhile, the House of Assembly has set up a committee to investigate activities of the Board from 2020 till July 2022 when Adamu held sway.
During its plenary yesterday, the motion was raised under the matter of public importance by the member representing Lapai Constituency, Falalu Bako. He noted that there were several anomalies in the operation of the Board during Adamu’s tenure.
Bako said the Assembly has the authority to know what has been misappropriated and how it can be salvaged, and how such situation can be avoided in the future.
