A mutilated body of a child estimated to be around three years old was discovered in a maize field in Chinhoyi this Tuesday.
ZBC News reports that the baby girl’s legs were cut off from knee level, while her right hand was chopped from the elbow.
The body, which was discovered in a decomposing state, appeared to have been burnt.
The body was found between Mpata and Katanda areas in Chinhoyi.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson, Inspector Margaret Chitove confirmed the incident and appealed to the public to assist with information that might lead to the arrest of suspects involved in the gruesome murder of the infant.
Reports of child murder have been on the rise in recent years with some arguing that their body parts were being used for ritual purposes.
The national is still searching for answers as to what really transpired to Tapiwa Makore, a seven-year-old Murehwa boy who was also murdered for suspected ritual purposes.
