There is heavy security in and around the National Assembly to forestall possible breakdown of law and order during the ongoing protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) in solidarity with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU)
Both anti-riot and regular policemen have been stationed at all entrances to the National Assembly as well as the Arcade where regular protests inside the Assembly usually take place.
As of the time of filing this report, it was not certain whether the protesters will be able to gain access into the National Assembly as the main entrance remains closed due to ongoing renovation work within the complex.
As a result of renovation work, staff use smaller gate at the Assembly Annex, about one kilometre from the main gate to the complex.
The policemen and women spread all over the Arcade were seen seated and ready for the protesters.
