A former Niger Delta militant leader Endurance Amagbein has dissociated himself from an allegation of operating an illegal crude oil mining camp in Igbomotoru, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Amagbein, in a statement on Monday, said the denial became necessary because of some unfounded allegations making the rounds in the mainstream and on social media credited to the Joint Military Task Force, codenamed, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS).

Amadein claimed that the JTF, allegedly acting in concert with a former paramount ruler of Igbomotoru community dethroned for alleged high-handedness, tagged him as the militant leader engaged in vandalism of crude oil pipelines.

He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, I, Endurance Amagbein, wish to set the record straight and state unequivocally that I am a peaceful and law-abiding citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I am not a militant leader and I also do not have any dealings or connections whatsoever with any illegal crude oil mining site howsoever described in any forest. The statement is false, malicious, mischievous and made in a desperate attempt to injure my reputation and to fit into a narrative.”
