Entertainer and jeweler Derick Chimebere has tagged Big Brother Naija one of the major youth employers of labour.

The CEO of Diamondz Africa said via his Instagram page while discussing the role of entertainment in Nigeria’s economy.

He noted a vast number of youths get employed direct or indirectly every year during the reality TV show while urging critics to tone down negative remarks about the show.

“You all must agree with me that Big Brother Naija is one of Nigeria’s biggest youth employer of labour,” he said.

“Every season, at least 20 or 22 housemates get into the house and their lives change for the better either they win or not. For those outside the house, they build their social media handles on the platform of BBN and from there they begin to grow organically getting millions of followers and adverts start coming in.

“I think we should reduce the negative criticism about the show and embrace the numbers of people it has taken out of poverty.”
