A herbalist, Saadu Alabi, 67, has been arraigned for allegedly raping underage pupils in Kwara State.

Alabi was arraigned in a magistrate court yesterday alongside AbdulGaniyu Haruna, 38, charged with raping three pupils of Community Junior Secondary School in Ilorin.

Haruna was said to be a friend of one of the girls’ father.

The girls are aged 12.

The defendants raped the girls on several occasions, the prosecution said.

Police First Information Report (FIR) alleged that Alabi and Haruna had carnal knowledge of the minors under the pretext that they were making charms for them.

According to the police report, the matter was reported by a member of International Federal of Women Lawyer (FIDA).

Magistrate, Mr O. A. Idiagbon ordered the remand of the suspect in the Federal Correctional Custodial Centre, Ilorin.

He adjourned the case to August 4.
